A Girl With Many Sides

Three years ago I bought an industrial sized vinyl cutter start a little business from home. I really wanted new couches and a Bosch mixer so that I could make bread every week. The problem was I only had money saved for one of them, so logically I bought neither and purchased the cutter instead. I had a great business that I worked hard at establishing- then we moved. I don't do very much of it any more. I do enjoy it and since it doesn't cost me anything I have kept it. Here are a few of my latest creations.

Fabric Anyone?

I have recently discovered this lovely lady how has some great unique quilt patterns and she is having a give away!! These fabrics look wonderful and rich.

Long-Arm Love

I found a 15 year old APQS longarm on Kijiji that I just needed to have and my husband said yes. I loved it, it was great fun- in fact too much fun. I used it a lot and realized that it was too much for me- four children, big dog and a husband who works a lot of long hours. So, as my dad said, I grew up and sold it. I showed great maturity in this decision (I need to keep telling myself). I miss it but the good thing is that the people who bought it don't live too far and they said I could use it any time.

While I had this tremendous machine I was able to do a lot of quilts for Margaret's Hope Chest. Carin is amazing and I am thrilled to know here. Here are some of the quilts I quilted for her. I was also able to donate some as well. Two of these quilts were designed by Crazy Mom Quilts at the retreat last summer. (the long ones blue and green).

Finally

One of my all time favorite blogs is Crazy Mom Quilts. I really enjoy her blog. She is down to earth and so inspirational. I decided to join her quilt along this summer. I was quite faithful and finished the quilt by Christmas for my daughter. I made it queen size (what was I thinking?!?) which was perfect because we rearranged beds and rooms and now her room is the guest room which allows me to have my very own studio for sewing and creating!! This is very exciting stuff.

I had the privilege to make these bibs for some very sweet babies in an orphanage in China. How sweet are these kids?!?

It truly warms my heart to see these good works by people all over this world.

Happy New Year and Things Going On

Happy New Year. My birthday celebration was a tremendous success. I have pictures posted here. I had so many sweet friends come and help. I also had many who could not attend send their love and support. Not only did some donate their time, but they also brought many supplies. I will be sending these kits to the Humanitarian Centre in Utah and then they will be distributed by Senior Missionaries, similar to that in this segment.

Calling out to any crafter or anyone willing to donate... my friend's friend is going to China to offer respite to orphange workers at a brand new orphanage. They are in need of many supplies. I offered to make bibs, however they could use sleepers, blankets, etc. If you are inclined to do so, she will be leaving on the 28th of January, so I need all items for the 25th.If you are in, please contact me at teancum09@gmail.com.Thanks.

Birthday Celebration

Well i have never been one to shy away from my birthday- I LOVE my birthday. This year I decided to celebrate by giving.

There are so many amazing things people do for others and it was tough to decide my focus, but when I saw this organization I was thrilled. Days for Girls What a great way to empower young women- and I would like you to be apart of it.

Wednesday November 3, 2010 all day (from 8:30-5ish). We will be having a potluck lunch at 12:30. Whether you can sew or not I welcome you.

Here is what you can bring:

- fabric scissors

-underwear (probably a small size the girls are 12-18)

-safety pins

-draw string

-ziplock bags

I will have work stations set up for cutting, sewing and assembly.

If you want to come just for the potluck that would be great. Also if you want to chip in some cash to help cover shipping and supplies that is another way to contribute.

I really want this to be a great celebration. The world is good to me and this is a small way to give and to get together with great people working for a great cause.
